Review: Rome 390 Bindings
Whatever Rome is putting in their Cool Aid, I’m drinking it… and I’m loving it! I paired my Mod this year with the Rome 390 bindings. Rome markets these as their “lightweight freestyle” bindings. They are really their mid-level binding, coming in with features and pricing above the entry-level Arsenals and below the high-end Targas.
For the price and features I can’t see going any further than the 390s. These bindings rock! The 390s are indeed a lightweight freestyle binding. This is thanks to 390 specific coring of the aluminum baseplates and highbacks. This coring allows Rome to shave ounces of the overall weight while still maintaining a powerful boot binding interface with a moderate to stiff flex pattern for snow feel and finesse. In addition to these features the 390s also offer all the personalized fit and style options that we’ve come to expect from Rome products.
I would recommend the Rome 390s to anyone who is looking for a lightweight, high-end binding with lot’s of personal fit customization and not a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles, all at a price tag of under $200.
